About The Department

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The department of Computer Applications was started in the year 2000 with a 3 Year Degree Programme in Bachelor of Computer Applications, affiliated to Bharathiar University. Subsequently Master in Computer Applications a three year programme was started in 2001 with a permission of AICTE New Delhi. Atpresent there are two sections in UG Programme and two Divisions in MCA Programme. 

The department was headed by a Director with Ph.D Qualified and fully Qualified, motivated and dedicated members of staff with supporting staff as per norms of the Bharathiar University and AICTE , New Delhi.



OBJECTIVE
  • ·         To achieve the overall pass percentage of 90% for the first year, 95% for the second year and 100% for the final year UG & PG students.
  • ·         To conduct department seminars by inviting experts in the related field which will give students an exposure to industry.
  • ·         To organize department functions at the National level once a semester which encourage students to improve themselves by participating in all activities.
  • ·         To update hardware and software resources in laboratory to meet the challenging IT industry apart from the syllabus.
  • ·         To achieve Academic excellence at the university level.
  • ·         To enrich the students with practical Knowledge and updated technologies in the field.
  • ·         To provide quality placements for all students

JAVA SYLLABUS



UNIT - I:
 Introduction  to Object –Oriented Programming – The Java Language -  Variable declarations and Arrays-Operators in Java  -Control Statements: An Introduction-Selection Constructs-Iteration Constructs-  Jump Constructs. Introduction to Classes: Instance variables- Class variables-Instance Methods-Constructors –Class Methods-Declaring Objects-Garbage Collection.
UNIT - II:
 Classes and Methods in detail: Method Overloading-Constructor Overloading –The this reference –Using Objects in Method-Recursion – Access Modifiers- Inner Classes –Command Line Arguments. Inheritance: Basics of Inheritance –Super Class Variable and Subclass Object -The Super reference-Constructor chaining –Method overriding –The final keyword. Abstract Classes and Interfaces: Extending Interface-Interface Reference. Exception Handling: Types of Exceptions –Uncaught Exceptions-Handling Exceptions-User Defined Exceptions.

POOJA CELEBRATION IN Dept of BCA '13

SARASWATHI POOJA:

                                                 
                                             On Oct 11th,Friday the dept. of BCA celebrated "THE DAY OF EDUCATION" as SARASWATHI POOJA. At 2.00 pm pooja celebrations started with lightening the lamp being lit followed by a prayer song.Then the staff wished the students  of BCA. At 2.30 the Principal, the Vice Principal visited  our dept. & wished all the staff & students.

BCA IV '13

INDUSTRIAL VISIT : 

                                             
                                       The III & II year students in the Dept. of BCA were sent on Industrial visit to Karnataka. In one of the Companies visited, we were explained about our subjects and the future scope for placements in the IT Industry and how to go about getting placed in the industry.

                                      As a continuation of the IV, we visited Visveshwarayya Museum in Bangalore and got to see how the generation of computers have been found.  Adding education with entertainment, our students took the initiative and tried to quench their thirst of knowledge by trying to know about the softwares being used in the theme parks while visiting WONDER LAA.
